Is the Umrah sa'y sufficient for the Tamattu' pilgrim, or is a sa'y for Hajj also required of him? And is it permissible to take the expenses for Hajj, or part of them, as an advance or a loan to be repaid after returning?

The majority of scholars hold that the Mutamatti' (one performing Umrah (definition) then Hajj in the same trip) must perform two Sa'is (rituals of walking between Safa and Marwa) because he performs an Umrah separate from Hajj. This is the more preponderant opinion. A group of scholars, however, maintain that one Sa'i is sufficient, and this is the view of Ibn Abbas and a narration from Ahmad ibn Hanbal. There is no harm in borrowing a portion of the money as a qard hasan (definition) (interest-free loan) for Hajj if the borrower is capable of repayment, but he is not obligated to borrow.
