Do acts of worship invalidate good character, despite the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, having said: "There is nothing heavier in the Scale on the Day of Judgment than good character?"

Good character is among the best deeds and the greatest means of drawing closer to Allah. Allah and His Messenger have commanded it. However, good deeds, including good character, can be nullified by apostasy if one dies upon it, as Allah Almighty said: "And whoever of you reverts from his religion [to disbelief] and dies while he is a disbeliever - then those have lost their deeds." Among the sins that nullify deeds are showing off (riya'), violating the sacred limits of Allah in private, and abandoning the Asr prayer, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever misses the Asr prayer, his deeds are nullified."
