Is consuming that which is unlawful considered a sin in itself?

Consuming unlawful (haram) earnings is a sin for which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, threatened its perpetrator with Hellfire, because no flesh nourished by unlawful means will grow except that the Fire is more deserving of it. Knowing what is lawful (halal) and unlawful (haram) is among the most important religious duties. Consuming unlawful earnings prevents the acceptance of supplications and righteous deeds, for Allah is good and accepts only what is good. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, clarified that the supplication of one who consumes unlawful earnings is not answered. Therefore, a Muslim must fear Allah in their earnings, food, and drink.
