Translation is like writing; expressions that are impermissible to write are also impermissible to translate. This includes translating lewd stories and novels, and menus that contain forbidden items. The translator must repent from translating forbidden things by ceasing, regretting, and resolving not to return to it, and by stopping publication if possible. As for the earnings acquired from such work, they are forbidden and must be disposed of by spending them on charitable and good causes for the poor and needy, unless the translator is poor and in need of money, in which case it is permissible for him to take what suffices his need.
