Is it permissible for a mother to break her fast in Ramadan to care for her two sick children?

Fasting may be broken by the sick person who is harmed by fasting, and by the pregnant or breastfeeding woman if they fear for themselves or their children. Breaking the fast may also be obligatory to save a life or property. However, mere inability to care for two children does not justify breaking the fast unless harm would result from not doing so. Whoever breaks the fast without a valid reason has committed a great sin, and she must offer sincere repentance and make up the two days she missed. No expiation (kaffarah) is required of her.
