Is it permissible for someone afflicted with schizophrenia to marry?

It is permissible for a person afflicted with schizophrenia to marry, provided that the other party is informed of their illness. This is because any illness or defect that affects marital life and causes aversion must be disclosed and not concealed. Insanity, such as schizophrenia, is among the defects that annul a marriage if the wife was not informed of it at the time of the contract. Ibn al-Qayyim said: "Every defect that causes the other spouse to feel aversion, and thereby obstructs the purpose of marriage... necessitates the option (of annulment)." Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan issued a fatwa stating the obligation for each spouse to inform the other of physical defects before marriage, because it is part of giving sincere advice, it resolves disputes, and prevents deception.
