When the woman with irregular bleeding (mustahadah) intends to purify herself, she must wash the area of blood and insert a clean piece of cloth to prevent its discharge. If the blood does not stop, she should bind herself with a clean cloth. The ritual bath (ghusl) is not obligatory upon her during her irregular bleeding but is recommended, and it becomes obligatory when her menstruation (hayd) ceases. However, the ghusl of the mustahadah does not suffice for the ablution (wudu') required for prayer, as it is a recommended ghusl. Her wudu' or ghusl is not invalidated by the discharge of blood after purification.
