What are the ways to protect young Muslim students in America from the temptations of tribulations, other than marriage?

Marriage is the natural solution. In the absence of temporary marriage, lust can be countered by strengthening the internal inhibitors (such as faith and awareness of God's watchful eye), weakening the impulses (such as fasting and avoiding stimuli), engaging in acts of worship and occupying oneself with them, and gathering for good.
