من هو الرجل الذي ألقى الله عليه شبه المسيح عيسى عليه السلام؟

The Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah do not mention the name of the man upon whom the likeness of Jesus (peace be upon him) was cast. Had there been any benefit in identifying him, it would have been mentioned. It is authentically narrated from Ibn Abbas that Jesus asked his companions: "Which of you will have my likeness cast upon him, be killed in my place, and be with me in my rank?" A young man stood up and accepted this, so the likeness of Jesus was cast upon him, and Jesus was raised to heaven.

Ibn Jarir favored the view that the likeness was cast upon all of Jesus' companions, and this is mentioned in a narration from Wahb ibn Munabbih, but Ibn Kathir described it as a very strange context. Some Christians claim that Judas Iscariot was the one whose likeness was cast upon them and who was crucified.

In any case, there are no consequences attached to identifying this man.
