Does watching TV series or committing sins during the daytime in Ramadan, then resuming them at night, invalidate the fast or diminish its reward?
Watching TV series that contain forbidden acts, whether during the day or night of , does not invalidate the fast nor does it necessitate making up for it. However, it diminishes the reward of fasting, and may even eliminate its reward entirely, as confirmed by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Perhaps a fasting person gets nothing from his fast but hunger." This indicates a failure to achieve the purpose of fasting, which is piety, as Allah Almighty says: "O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous." Also, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever does not give up false speech and acting upon it and ignorance, Allah has no need of his giving up his food and drink."
