What is the wisdom behind men performing the brisk walk (harwalah) during Sa'y between Safa and Marwah?

It is Sunnah for men to jog between the two markers during Sa'y, following the practice of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his Companions thereafter. As for women, they do not jog because the intention for them is modesty and concealment, and jogging might reveal their attractions.

The wisdom behind men jogging during Sa'y between Safa and Marwah, as mentioned by Ibn Uthaymeen, is that this place was a valley with a wadi (rainy) and sandy terrain, making normal walking difficult. The origin of Sa'y is to commemorate the state of Isma'il's mother when she traversed between Safa and Marwah seven times searching for water for her son.
