Is excessive thinking about affliction and weeping over it considered impatience and discontent, or is this the natural state of human beings?

The servant's patience in refraining from despair and resentment towards divine decrees is obligatory, while being content with them is recommended. Patience means disliking what has occurred without acting in a way that violates Islamic law, whereas contentment involves no dislike for what has occurred. Life is a realm of trials; a trial for the righteous may be an elevation of their ranks, and for the wicked, a punishment for their sins. Excessive contemplation of a calamity and magnifying it is not appropriate, but remembering it without resentment is permissible. And whoever says "Indeed we belong to Allah, and to Him we will return" upon remembering a calamity will be rewarded.
