Is it permissible for a worshiper to sit inside the mosque while the television is on?

Sitting in the mosque, awaiting prayer or for worship, is a legitimate act for which one is rewarded. For a Muslim is considered to be in prayer as long as he is awaiting it, and the angels supplicate for him. Watching television in the mosque is permissible if the content is beneficial and useful and free from objectionable material. However, if the program includes forbidden elements, such as unveiled women or music, then the device must be removed from the mosque; for mosques are sacred places and must be purified from both material and spiritual filth, as they are built for the remembrance of Allah, prayer, and recitation of the Qur'an.
