What is the meaning of “Then the Almighty will come to them in a form other than the form in which they first saw Him,” and will God take a different form instead of His original form? And did God descend to earth to speak to Moses, or did He speak from above the Throne? And did He take the form of fire when He spoke to him? And is taking the form of a human a characteristic of God?

People will see their Lord three times on the Day of Resurrection: the first time is at the reckoning. Then, Allah Almighty will come to the hypocrites and the believers in a form different from His first form, as a test and trial. The believers will recognize Him by a sign, and He will uncover His Shin, whereupon the believers will prostrate to Him. As for the hypocrites, Allah will make their backs a single plate, so whenever they attempt to prostrate, they will fall on their backs. Then, the believers will raise their heads and see Him in His first form. As for the light with which Allah veiled Himself, it is a light of a veil whose modality we do not know. It is light and fire, a pure light that radiates without burning. The proximity and nearness of Allah to His creation do not necessitate that His essence should be devoid of being above the Throne; He, the Exalted, is high in His nearness, above all things, and there is nothing like Him. As for Moses, peace be upon him, he did not see his Lord, the Almighty, for Allah, glory be to Him, does not take the form of fire or a human.
