It is forbidden to write the Basmalah in letters and similar documents if it is known with certainty or highly probable that they will be exposed to disrespect (imtihan). Otherwise, it is permissible. Disposing of papers by shredding or burning is not considered disrespect. It is advised to turn away from obsessive thoughts (waswas) and ignore them.
