The question

Is it permissible to pray in plastic boots that have some mud on them if they were put on after performing ablution? And do we pray in boots and socks if we wiped over the first sock, then put on another sock over it, then the boots, or is it necessary to pray only in the sock that was wiped over?

The answer

Prayer with pure shoes is an established Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, for he used to pray in them and say: "Act against the Jews, for they do not pray in their sandals nor in their Khuff (leather socks)." It is permissible to wear more than one sock and wipe over all of them after completing purification, with the required conditions, which are that the sock must be thick and cover what is obligatory to cover. The duration for wiping for a resident is one day and one night, and for a traveler is three days and three nights, and the duration begins from the first wiping after nullifying ablution. There is no objection to wiping over socks and then wearing shoes and praying in them without removing them.
