Is Al-Khidr alive and remaining until the Day of Judgment?

The stories of the righteous about Al-Khidr and their claim that he and Elias perform Hajj every year have a very weak basis. The evidence points to the strong probability that Al-Khidr is not alive but has passed away. This is based on the general meaning of Allah Almighty's saying: (And We did not grant immortality to any human being before you [O Muhammad]; so if you die, will they be immortal?) [21:34], and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O Allah, if this group of Muslims perishes, You will not be worshipped on Earth." Furthermore, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, informed that at the end of one hundred years from the night he spoke the hadith, no one then on the face of the earth would remain. If Al-Khidr were alive, he would have been among the Prophet's followers and fought alongside him.
