Is it permissible to perfume the ihram itself before the miqat, and is anything required if this was done repeatedly out of ignorance?

Scenting the garment is not permissible during ihram according to the Malikis and Hanafis, while it is permissible according to the Shafi'is and Hanbalis. And whoever does so out of ignorance or based on the opinion of permissibility incurs no penalty. Some scholars have held that one who applies perfume or wears perfumed clothing forgetfully or ignorantly owes no fidyah (expiation). However, if the body is perfumed and the garment is scented, there is no dispute that it is not forbidden and incurs no fidyah.
