Some held that it is a warning to the hypocrites, meaning that their deeds will be revealed and not hidden, as stated in another verse concerning hypocrites: (Allah has informed us of your news, and Allah will see your deeds and His Messenger). Others held that it is an address to the believers, encouraging them to perform righteous deeds, and that Allah, His Messenger, and the believers will see their deeds. In any case, the verse encourages righteous deeds and sincerity to Allah therein, thus combining encouragement for the obedient and intimidation for the disobedient.
