The question

Is it permissible to marry a righteous girl who is a memorizer of the Book of Allah, even though her environment and lineage are known for bad qualities, and do the sayings "Choose carefully for your offspring, for indeed lineage is influential" and "Beware of the green (plants) of the dunghill" apply to her?

The answer

Some scholars disliked marriage to the daughter of a transgressor, but the fatwa we hold is that it is not disliked to marry a righteous woman of good character and religious commitment, even if her family is weak in their religiosity. Rather, a man will be rewarded if he intends to free her from an environment of heedlessness. So, if the girl's righteousness is confirmed, seek Allah's guidance and proceed with marrying her. As for the hadith: "Beware of the green (things) of themen (dung heaps)," it is very weak. And the hadith: "Choose for your sperm, for indeed the deeply-rooted trait is insidious," is weak with this wording, and even if it was narrated with another wording, it is also weak, or some have deemed it good due to its various chains of narration, and the matter therein is understood as recommended, not obligatory.
