Is it intended by the Almighty's saying: "And indeed, you are of a great moral character" the character of the Messenger (peace be upon him)? And was the character of the Messenger mentioned in the Qur'an, and what are the verses indicating his character?

The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was characterized by the great character that Allah instilled in him before his prophethood, and this was confirmed after the revelation. His Lord described him as being "upon a great character" and "an excellent example." The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, purified those who believed in him by cleansing them from the defilements of deeds and morals. He was merciful and gentle, not rude or harsh-hearted. He was witnessed to be concerned for his nation, eager for their benefit, and full of compassion and mercy towards them. He was modest and generous, to the extent that he would shy away from hurting the feelings of those sitting with him. He was distinguished by courage and steadfastness in adversity, as in [the battle of] Uhud. He was also so compassionate and merciful that he almost grieved himself to death over those who turned away from guidance, due to his intense love for the welfare of all people.
