What is the ruling on killing animals whose meat is not permissible to eat, for the purpose of utilizing their hides, and is it permissible to wear the hides of animals killed in this manner?

It is permissible to kill an animal that is not eaten for the purpose of benefiting from its skin and fur, and its killing should be done by the easiest means. As for an animal that is eaten, it should be slaughtered (dhakāh) and its meat and skin utilized. It is permissible to hunt animals and take their skins and other parts for legitimate purposes such as eating, selling, or benefiting from their fur and bones. It is disliked to kill animals without benefit. Trading in skins is permissible as long as their wearing or spreading is not forbidden, such as the skin of a pig or beasts of prey. Therefore, it is not permissible to sell them to someone who would use them for disobedience.
