Specifying the "wilayah" (guardianship/protection) in the verse to particular individuals without proof is speaking about Allah without knowledge. The verse includes everyone who believes, establishes prayer, and gives zakat. Furthermore, interpreting "Wali" as seeking help in bringing benefit and warding off harm from other than Allah is a polytheistic interpretation, because all benefit and harm are solely in Allah's hand.
