What is the ruling of the Sharia on believing in dream interpretation from the internet and horoscopes?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, divided visions into three categories. It is incumbent upon the dreamer to discern the type of vision he saw so that he can apply to it what is legally appropriate. It should be known that a vision is not a legal proof upon which rulings can be based. However, it can be a source of solace, serving as good tidings for the dreamer or a warning to him from heedlessness, as happened to Abdullah ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with both of them. Therefore, the questioner should not waste her time searching for interpretations of dreams, but rather direct her attention to what benefits her in matters of her religion and her worldly life.
