What is the meaning of the verse, "Those are the transgressors," and is masturbation forbidden?
Allah Almighty says, describing the characteristics of the successful believers: "And those who guard their private parts Except from their wives or those whom their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors." This means that believing men and women guard their private parts from unlawful acts such as fornication and sodomy. The only exceptions are lawful sexual enjoyment between spouses or between a man and his female slave. Whoever goes beyond that has transgressed Allah's command, and this includes the prohibition of temporary marriage ( al-Mut'ah), masturbation, and sodomy.
