Is it permissible to address the Prophet (peace be upon him) in his mosque as if one were speaking to a man, such as saying: "I pledge to you to defend you and your Sunnah"?

Such an act was not known among the righteous predecessors (Salaf As-Salih), and it falls into one of two categories: either it is done openly, which would be a sign of bad manners, or it is done secretly, in which case it is only acceptable if it occurs spontaneously, without premeditation, intention, or a deliberate purpose to dedicate that place for such an act. However, if there is premeditation, intention, and a belief in its virtue, then there must be evidence for it, and this is not valid. The life in Barzakh (interim period between death and resurrection) for prophets differs from life in this world. Therefore, it is not permissible to use this life as evidence for the validity of treating prophets in their graves as if they were alive, in terms of calling upon them or seeking their help.
