Is it permissible in Islamic law for there to be correspondence and chatting between the two genders if the purpose is to encourage acts of obedience, such as reading the Quran, fasting, and engaging in remembrance of God?

Conversations and correspondence between young men and women are not permissible in Islamic law due to the potential for corruption, even if they pertain to good deeds. They could be a pretext through which Satan leads one to fall into what is impermissible in Islamic law. These matters can be conducted between a believing girl and her female counterparts, and between a believing young man and his male counterparts. It is obligatory to block this path and prevent this means, based on the Almighty's saying: "O you who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan - indeed, he enjoins immorality and wrongdoing. And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, not one of you would have been pure ever, but Allah purifies whom He wills, and Allah is Hearing and Knowing."
