What is the ruling on invoking blessings upon the Prophet, his family, his companions, his supporters, his descendants, and his wives along with the Eid takbeers, and is it considered a bid‘ah (innovation)?

Multiple forms of Takbir (proclaiming God's greatness) have been narrated from the Companions and the Salaf (pious predecessors). Some scholars have added numerous additions that include حمد (praise), تسبيح (glorification), and ثناء (eulogy) of Allah. Since the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, did not specify one formula over another, the matter in this regard is broad as long as the dhikr (remembrance) is sound, due to the generality of Allah’s saying: (and that you may magnify Allah for what He has guided you to), and His saying: (and mention the name of Allah on known days). Sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace be upon him, after the Takbir was not explicitly recommended by the early scholars, but some later scholars mentioned the possibility of its recommendation. Thus, the matter concerning the wordings of Takbir, dhikr, and sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace be upon him, during the Eid days is broad.
