Does the supervisor’s request to the student who is leaning back or lying down—while awake—to sit upright on the bed out of respect for the supervisor, without asking him to stand up or dismount, fall under the prophetic prohibition: “Whoever wishes men to stand up for him, let him take his seat in Hellfire”?

Students should be raised to show respect towards teachers, supervisors, and those older than them. It is not appropriate for a student to speak while reclining in front of them, for "he is not of us who does not show mercy to our young ones and respect to our elders." The Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying, "Whoever wishes for men to stand up for him, let him prepare his seat in the Fire," applies specifically to standing, not sitting. A student reclining in front of a supervisor is contrary to proper etiquette. Students should be encouraged to observe this etiquette.
