Is it permissible for students to stand in reverence for the teacher when he enters the classroom?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not like his Companions to stand for him, out of humility before Allah and in opposition to the arrogant. A teacher should not command his students to stand for him, nor should the students obey such a command, because there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator.
