What is the way to overcome recurring sins, fear and cowardice, and to achieve righteousness and the fear of Allah, while experiencing病-related symptoms, and is self-ruqyah better?
Ruqyah (Islamic exorcism) can be performed by oneself or by a raqi (exorcist) known for his religious commitment. It is preferable for a person to perform ruqyah on himself.
Sanctioning (istikhlal) only occurs by believing in the permissibility of something that has been unanimously forbidden and is known to be forbidden in Islam by necessity, such as believing in the permissibility of pork or adultery. Thus, whoever believes in the permissibility of killing innocent people or taking their money without a doubt becomes an apostate. However, if it is based on an interpretation, then it is like the case of the Khawarij, Qudama ibn Maz'un, and Abu Jandal, who were not deemed apostates but were subjected to prescribed punishments. Similarly, an ignorant person who can be excused for their ignorance does not become an apostate until they learn and the doubt is removed, and then they still consider it permissible.
Among the things that help in fearing Allah and repenting are: remembering death and its horrors, your standing before Allah, contemplating Allah's greatness and the severity of His punishment, reading verses and hadiths about warnings, and keeping company with righteous people. Strive against yourself and your devil, and trust that Allah will guide you to His ways.
A Muslim must remain balanced between fear and hope. He should strengthen the side of hope when the devil whispers despair, and strengthen the side of fear when he tries to feel secure from Allah's wrath, based on Allah's saying: "And invoke Him with fear and hope," and His saying: "And they used to invoke Us with hope and fear." One must beware of despair and of feeling secure from Allah's plan, based on Allah's saying: "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except those astray?", and His saying: "Do they then feel secure from the plan of Allah? But no one feels secure from the plan of Allah except the losing people."
