Is the following Hadith authentic: "Whoever performs ablution before sleeping, an angel sleeps with him, and whenever he moves, the angel says, 'O Allah, forgive him'"?

The aforementioned Hadith was not found with this exact wording, but two Hadith conveying a similar meaning have been reported:

1. "Whoever spends the night in a state of purity, an angel spends the night in his inner garment, and whenever he wakes up, the angel says: 'O Allah, forgive Your servant so-and-so, for he spent the night in a state of purity.'" Its chain of narration is weak.

2. "Purify these bodies, may Allah purify you, for there is no servant who spends the night in a state of purity except that an angel spends the night with him in his inner garment, and he does not turn over at any hour of the night except that [the angel] says: 'O Allah, forgive Your servant, for he spent the night in a state of purity.'" This chain of narration is not authentic.

Some scholars have considered the Hadith to be good (hasan) due to supporting narrations (shawāhid), and Al-Albani judged it as "hasan li ghayrihi" (good due to external corroboration). "Al-Shi'ar" refers to what covers a person's body. The principle of performing ablution before sleep is established in the authentic Sunnah.
