What is the ruling on regularly reciting certain surahs and repeating the Beautiful Names of Allah daily after the Fajr and Maghrib prayers, with the intention of gaining reward and forgiveness, without believing it to be an obligatory Sunnah?

The Sharia encourages frequent recitation of the Qur’an and the remembrance of Allah. Hadiths illustrate the virtue of reading the Qur’an and that it will intercede for its reciters on the Day of Judgment. Allah commanded abundant remembrance of Him: "And remember Allah much, that you may be successful" (Quran 8:45).

It is prescribed for a Muslim to consistently observe the morning and evening remembrances and to increase them. However, dedicating specific times for acts of worship that have not been specified by the Sharia falls under additive innovations (bid'ah idafiyyah) that must be avoided. Similarly, repeating the Beautiful Names of Allah, such as "Allah, Allah" or "Rahman, Rahman," is not among the forms of remembrance mentioned in the Sunnah and should be avoided.
