Is it permissible to listen to old songs with the intention of occupying free time and alleviating psychological pressures, knowing that the questioner is paralyzed and finds it difficult to review the Qur’an?

Listening to musical instruments and entertainment tools is forbidden by the consensus of the imams. Allah Almighty did not make the cure for this nation in what He has forbidden to it. Therefore, listening to them to alleviate illness or fill free time will only increase sickness. It is advisable to replace listening to musical instruments with listening to the Book of Allah, anasheed (Islamic vocal music) free of musical instruments, lectures, and beneficial lessons of knowledge, so that the heart may be eased and the soul may be tranquil.
