Is it preferable to use odd numbers in all matters of life, such as eating 3 dates or 3 eggs?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The meaning of "Indeed, Allah is Witr (Odd) and loves witr (odd numbers)" in the hadith is that Allah the Almighty is One and loves odd acts and things in worship and obedience, such as making the prayers five, purification three times, circumambulation (Tawaf) and the ritual walk (Sa'i) seven times, and the throwing of the pebbles seven times. Al-Nawawi mentioned that this includes many of His great creations, while others were of the view that the meaning refers to one who worships Allah with oneness and singularity with sincerity, or that Allah loves every odd number He has legislated. Doing so may be for seeking blessings from the attribute of oneness.
