Is blood that comes down before the time of childbirth considered nifas if there are no labor pains?

Nifas blood (postnatal bleeding) is the blood that exits due to childbirth. Its rulings are the same as those for menstruation in prohibiting prayer, fasting, circumambulation (Tawaf), touching the Mus-haf (the Qur'an), and marital intercourse. It is considered nifas whether it exits at the time of birth, or one, two, or three days before it. As for blood that exits before that, it is dysfunctional blood (istihadah), and it does not prohibit the aforementioned acts. However, one must perform ablution (wudu') for the time of each obligatory prayer.
