Is a divorce considered to have taken place if a man said to himself that his wife would be divorced if his eye blinked three or four times consecutively, and he did not utter it aloud, while he tried to prevent the condition from being met? And is his act of blinking that number of times considered an action based on what he said to himself, which was lifted from people: "as long as they do not act upon it or speak of it"?

"Self-talk does not hold a person accountable, nor does it constitute a divorce. Therefore, whatever you say to yourself, such as conditioning divorce on the blinking of your eye three times or more, is not binding, whether the condition is met or not. This is based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: 'Indeed, Allah has pardoned for my Ummah what they whisper to themselves, as long as they do not act upon it or speak of it.'"
