Does divorce occur if a man says to himself or in a low voice: "My wife is divorced three times, three bullet divorces," then retracts and says: "Make it one divorce so I can take her back"?

Uttering the divorce pronouncement is one of its pillars. Therefore, divorce does not occur by mere self-talk without uttering it. This is the view of the majority of scholars, based on the hadith: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has pardoned for my Ummah what they whisper to themselves, as long as they do not act upon it or speak of it." And whoever doubts whether he uttered the divorce pronouncement or not, the default is that he did not utter it, because the certainty is the continuation of the marital bond, which is not removed by doubt. It is advisable to be wary of obsessive thoughts and not to give in to them.
