Is it permissible for the husband to use veiled words for divorce, or explicit words with the intention of intimidation and not divorce, to avoid the wife's repeated requests for divorce and to curb her tongue, knowing that he had previously divorced her once?

If a husband utters phrases such as: "taliq, talik, talik," divorce does not occur according to the Shafi'i school. Nor does divorce occur with them according to the Hanafi school, unless the wife refers the matter to a judge. According to the Maliki school, these are considered subtle allusions (kinayat khafiyah) by which divorce does not occur if the husband did not intend divorce. As for explicit divorce pronouncements such as: "You are divorced," divorce occurs by them even if the intention was merely to threaten.
