Is it permissible for someone entrusted with managing Zakat funds to spend them on his adult son and wife if they are among the eligible recipients, or on himself if he has no income and works in education, teaching, and Islamic da'wah in a non-Muslim country?

Scholars have differed on the issue of whether it is permissible for an agent distributing charity to take from it for himself or his children if they are among its rightful recipients. What is recommended is that the agent seeks permission from the owner of the zakat and informs him that he is one of those eligible and wishes to take from it. If obtaining permission is difficult, then it is safer not to take from it. What is held as the authoritative fatwa by us is permissibility. So, if the agent is among the rightful recipients of zakat, he may take from it. And if he knows that one of his relatives is eligible, it is permissible for him to give to him from it without favoritism.
