The answer

The treatment for satanic whispers (waswas) involves two matters: The first is seeking refuge with Allah the Almighty, frequent remembrance of Him, and reading the Quran, especially Al-Fatihah, Al-Baqarah, the Mu'awwidhat (Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas), and Ayat Al-Kursi, as evidenced by Allah the Almighty's saying: (And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing) [Fussilat/36], and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: (And I command you to remember Allah, for the likeness of that is like a man whom the enemy pursued quickly, until he came to a strong fortress and secured himself from them. Likewise, a servant cannot secure himself from Satan except by remembering Allah). The second is complete avoidance of the whispers and refraining from thinking about them or seeking solutions for them, because this is what Satan desires, as indicated by the Messenger's (peace be upon him) hadith: (Let him seek refuge with Allah and desist). The explanations of Al-Nawawi, Al-Khattabi, and Ibn Hajar for this hadith confirm that whispering is repelled by seeking refuge and by turning away from it, and that Satan's whispers do not cease with arguments, but rather by ignoring them, which is a beneficial and proven remedy.
