What is the ruling on a computer engineer working in a French bank, whose job specializes in programming, installing, monitoring, and maintaining systems, and improving and developing the informational infrastructure of the stock exchange, knowing that he only works on computer systems and technology?

It is impermissible to work in usurious banks and institutions, even if the work is not directly related to forbidden transactions, such as computer maintenance. This is because it constitutes cooperation in sin, and Allah Almighty has prohibited cooperation in sin and aggression. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who feeds it, its scribe, and its two witnesses, considering them all equal in sin. And whoever gives up something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better. And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out.
