Is it permissible to prevent a wife from studying in her parents' governorate, and to limit her study to the husband's governorate, despite a prior agreement to study without specifying the location?
The husband must fulfill the condition stipulated by the wife at the time of the marriage contract, such as completing her studies, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "The conditions most worthy of fulfillment are those by which you make intimacy lawful." So, if the wife stipulated completing her studies at the time of the contract, the husband is not permitted to prevent her, due to Allah's saying: "O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts." If no specific place for study was determined, the husband is not obligated for the study to be near the wife's family, but rather in any place that fulfills the condition, and he has the choice to select the place suitable for him and his wife.
