What is the ruling on working for a company that markets tobacco and matches when no other work is available?

It is not permissible to work for companies that market and trade in tobacco, because smoking is forbidden (haram). If Allah forbids something, He also forbids its price, its sale, and its purchase. Whoever gives up something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better, as stated in the Almighty's words: (And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him.)
