Does the meaning of the Hadith: "Recite and ascend, and recite as you used to recite in the worldly life, for your status is at the last verse you recite" imply that we should memorize the Qur'an in order?

The hadith does not indicate that whoever memorizes the Quran will not enter Hellfire. Rather, it indicates that the reward of the proficient memorizer is commensurate with their memorization and proficiency. Thus, whoever fully recites the Quran will attain the highest ranks of Paradise, and whoever recites a part of it will ascend in ranks commensurate with that.
