There is no objection to selling well-known and described types of perfume through forward selling (bay' al-salam), because being disciplined by description is sufficient, and it is not necessary for the buyer to see, taste, or smell the perfume. Most jurists have explicitly stated the validity of salam in well-known types of perfume such as amber, Indian oud, and musk, and that they are regulated by color, country of origin, and other distinguishing characteristics.
