What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding a husband who prevents his wife from completing her studies despite a prior agreement, neglects her financially and emotionally, accuses her of disobedience (nushooz), refuses to divorce her, and slanders her reputation, knowing that the wife fears her father's anger if she refuses the divorce?

The husband must fulfill the conditions that do not contradict the marriage contract. If the wife refuses to return to the marital home for a legitimate reason, such as severe harm, she is not considered disobedient (nashiz). It is permissible to retaliate against the husband's mistreatment without transgression. Obedience to the father in demanding a divorce from the husband is not obligatory, because obedience to the husband has greater priority. If reconciliation between the spouses becomes impossible, then divorce is permissible.
