What is the difference between understanding (fahm) and guidance (hidayah), and are they an inspiration from God to minds and hearts?

Understanding and guidance are two gifts from Allah. Understanding is the knowledge and comprehension of something. As for guidance, it has two meanings: the guidance of instruction, clarification, and indication, which humans possess; and the guidance of divine enablement and inspiration, which only Allah possesses. Understanding and the guidance of instruction are for the minds and hearts, while the guidance of divine enablement is for the heart alone.
