Does the reward of one who is overtaken by dawn while praying qiyam al-layl but has not prayed witr become lost, compared to one who has prayed witr with a single rak'ah and has not prayed any other qiyam al-layl?

Witr is the most emphasized of the night prayers, and a group of scholars are of the opinion that it is obligatory. Even with the view that it is a Sunnah, abandoning it indicates a weakening of religious commitment. Whoever intentionally abandons Witr is deprived, and much good has escaped him. Whoever prays one rak'ah at night and makes it his Witr, then sleeps, has attained much good. It is advisable for one who misses Witr to make it up after dawn breaks, either in its original form or as an even number of rak'ahs. A Muslim should not abandon Witr.
