Is it permissible for the wife's family to prevent the husband from communicating with his wife and daughter, and to incite the wife to disobey her husband and refuse to return to him, under the pretext of completing her studies and claiming that she obeys her family and not her husband, especially after the husband refused her travel to study in another distant province?

Neither the questioner's wife nor her family has the right to prevent her from him or to annul their marriage. She is disobedient and rebellious by refusing him and preventing him from knowing news of his daughter. Whoever among her family assists her is a partner in her sin. The problem should be addressed wisely, for example, by seeking the mediation of someone influential with her guardian to discuss the matter with him, explain the Shari'ah ruling, and strive for reconciliation. If that does not work, he may refer the matter to the Shari'ah courts to compel him to uphold the truth.
